First few days on dA
It's been a very interesting few days - I joined dA properly, having lurked and watched for a few months, and have just started uploading things into the gallery. I mainly use Oxidizer, a Mac-only fractal flame application written by David Burnett, and which you can get here:
[link]The latest version is 0.5 and has a transform editor which makes it very similar to Apophysis - the app still demands a bit of work for you to get your head around it, but it's worth persevering IMHO. Most of what I have done so far has used scripts provided generously by Ralf Flicker, who has a nice site at
[link] and there's a pukka Oxidizer community over at Scott Chitwood's site at Rampant Mac:
[link] Thanks to all who have looked and faved and watched so far - I'll keep posting when the day job doesn't keep me out of the house for too long!

I see that you are a Mac user - I have one as well (and a PC), but have yet to dabble into any of the fractal software that is available for it. You have a couple of really nice flames using these programs - now my interest is up! Alas, I really don't have the time to look into it yet.
Take care!!

I've tried all the quadriums but I just haven't had the time and patience to get anything out of them. I've loved what you have been able to do with q2. q prime crashes on me all the time (iMac 2.8GHz, Leopard) and I simply haven't spent enough time with them to learn properly how to use them. I'm also interested in Apo-J but can't get scripts to run on that properly - my own ignorance, I'm almost certain...
I've been using Oxidizer for five months or so and have really now just about got my head around it. I use 0.4.3 which is pretty stable - but 0.5 has a transform editor and a colour map editor, which makes it much more attractive, although it too crashes far too often. I would love to be able to translate Apo scripts into Lua for Oxidizer, and that is going to be a big project in my (limited!) spare time.
Keep up the wonderful q2 work!

Hope you don't have too many issues and would love to see what you can turn out with it!!!
Thanks again for your interest in my work
